This is a resubmission of a message that I believe never made it past the teklabs 11/70: IBM has just released version 1.1 of MSDOS (PC DOS) with support for double sided disk drives. I am going to buy the minimum IBM PC and add my own disk drives. The recommended single sided disk drive for version 1.0 of MSDOS was the Tandon drive. I have read that the double sided Tandon drive causes excessive media and head wear. I have also read rumors that IBM is switching to another brand of double sided drive. Since I plan to buy my system very soon, can anyone tell me the recommended double sided drive for version 1.1 of MSDOS on the IBM PC? I would like to hear from anyone who has sucessfully installed a pair of Tandon TM100-2 disk drives in an IBM PC. In particular, the drive jumper configuration. J. Jones
