[comp.unix.aux] Strange uucp message

jlh@stech.UUCP (Jan Harrington) (06/06/89)

OK, I give up. Every time I try to send mail A/UX tells me:

get_myaddress:socket: Network is down

The LOGFILE says "WRONG TIME TO CALL" but that's silly, because L.sys says Any.
Cu works fine, so I know the port is OK and that the Mac II can talk to it.

What haven't I done?????

Same thing happenned to me. I edited the sendmail configuration file
/usr/lib/sendmail.cf to fix it. Look for the lines

# other uucp hosts (these sites avoid router)
CQ

Then alter the CQ line to include the names of your uucp connections
that you entered in the L.sys file. For example, I have connections to
pur-phy, ault, sawmill and mdbs. Therefore the following CQ line.

CQpur-phy ault sawmill mdbs

This may not be the elegant solution but without adequate documentation
it works for me. When looking for sendmail docs, Apple's docs state
to refer to A Sendmail Configuration Guide which, of course, is not
included in the A/UX docs that I spent big bucks for. (Come on Apple
I'm used to much better treatment than that from you!) Luckily a very
nice fellow from Purdue Computing Center was able to give me a lot of
sendmail help.

Hope this helps,
