I am posting this to follow up my request for information
about running A/UX in Canada. THANK YOU to all of the
netters that replied to my last posting. I have had all of
my questions answered. To summarize the answers:
The Documentors Workbench contains all of the usual
UNIX style documentation preparation tools:
nroff, troff, enscript, deroff, psdit, tbl, eqn, etc.
The programmers workbench includes:
C compiler, F77 compiler, Assembler, sdb, SCCS, yacc, lex,
lint, make, awk.
About a week after I posted this article, I got a phone call
from Alan Hrabinski from Apple Canada to answer my questions
about where to get A/UX and what was in it. (It seems someone
had seen my article and had passed it on to him. Also, about
two days later, someone from the local Apple Canada outlet
called me to answer my questions--it seems someone had
forwarded my article to them as well. See how fast the net
gets results?)
You CAN get it in Canada, just DON'T trust either your
local authorized dealers or your local APPLE CANADA outlet
if they tell you different. There are 7 Authorized
dealers across the Country, including one in my home
town of Calgary. ( Alan Crawford and Assoc. (403) 295-0822).
(Additionally, Alan tells me that there are approximately 100 AUX
sites in Canada.)
If you have questions about A/UX, the main people I dealt with at
APPLE CANADA were:
Alan Hrabinski
A/UX Product Manager for Canada
(416) 470-4287
Jacquie Finney
A/UX Technical Support
(416) 677-2745
Alice Jensen
(403) 237-9970
Both were quite helpful and Alan was able to tell me who
the authorized dealers were.
Thanks again to all of those that answered my question,
and a special thanks to all those people at Apple Canada
that put me onto the right track.
