From: Mabry Tyson <Tyson@Sri-Ai> This month's BYTE referenced two text to phoneme translation algorithms: one by McIlroy (Bell Labs) as enhanced by NIH and another from the Naval Research Lab. I'm looking for an algorithm to go from text to phonemes for a project of mine. The translations can be done off-line (ie, no real-time requirement). Does anyone have pointers to such algorithms (preferably public-domain)? (Yes, I know Type-N-Talk will provide phonemes for its input. Presumably other talking systems will but I am looking for an algorithm I can use.) -------
