[comp.unix.aux] File /newunix

rhodes@grebyn.com (Ned Rhodes) (01/09/90)

I found out the hard way the importance of the file /newunix.
Be advised that whenever you do an autoconfig, the system assumes that a
baseline (i.e. no extra things) system is what is stored in /newunix. I
made the mistake of deleting it and then copying over an old unix file,
only to find that I could not remove any options that had been set or
drivers that I had installed. I recommend that you back up the file on
a floppy in the event something happens and you need to go back to a
safe copy.
