I have a Hitachi/Burroughs CD-12 video monitor that I'm extremely pleased with, except for one intensely annoying problem. The image on the tube is too blasted narrow horizontally! There is a width coil that can be adjusted, but even set for maximum width it is too narrow. I had the coil slug replaced even, thinking it might have been damaged, with zero change. Does anyone have this monitor and/or know how I can fix it? Can I change the whole coil to one with a different value? I'm beginning to suspect why they were selling them by the trillions. It would be a shame to buy some other monitor, since it is so nice otherwise. Monitor/tv hacks?

From: Keith Petersen <w8sdz@BRL> A monitor with a narrow picture sometimes indicates the high voltage is too high. Check your book to see if it specifies what the HV on the anode of the picture tube should be. You'll need a special probe for your VOM or VTVM to measure it because it's higher than most meters will read. Some monitors have a high voltage adjustment control inside. Refer to the maintenance manual.
