[comp.unix.aux] AUX on SE/30?

aro@aber-cs.UUCP (Andrew Ormsby) (05/02/90)

Does A/UX 2.0 support the Macintosh SE/30? Regardless of whether
Apple support this configuration, does it actually work? I would be
grateful for any information.

Please mail, I'll summarise if there is interest. Apologies if this
subject has been covered before.

Yes, A/UX 2.0 is announced as supporting the SE/30.

In fact, A/UX 1.1.1 might well work on the SE/30, but it isn't
supported, other than having all the startup messages made
narrow enough to fit on an SE/30 screen :-)

A/UX 2.0 (also 1.1.1) definitely runs very nicely on a SE/30. I have
an SE/30 at home that's been running A/UX 2.0 for months. Fast and
slick. MultiFinder and the easy switching between CommandShell windows
make the limited screen size quite tolerable.

I don't know how or why this keeps coming up, but A/UX 1.1.1 was
issued precisely to support two machines: the IIci and the SE/30. A/UX
1.1.1 fully supports the SE/30, it was meant from the start to support
the SE/30, and it is stated in the official press release that it
supports the SE/30.
