I have recently acquired a Mac IIfx with an 80MB internal drive and 4MB RAM. I loaded 6.0.5 on the internal when the system arrived, and hooked up my external AUX box to it. When I try to book with the Mac Partition, it bombs out after about 10 seconds with an error message about the Finder being damaged and needed to be replaced with the Installer. I did this, and rebooted, only to have the same message appear. I am using AUX 2.0 (beta version). Has anyone else had this happen when using a IIfx and AUX 2.0? If so, any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Please mail me replies to aclin@dtoa1.dt.navy.mil. Thanks in advance. C. Aclin

I have not seen the symptoms described on a IIfx but I believe this will cure them: 1) Boot off of 6.0.5 floppy 2) Dispose of finder and system file from HD 3) finder-copy the finder and system files from the floppy to the HD 4) Reboot 5) (If desired) Use the "custom" button in the installer program to install any features (printing, AppleShare, etc.) not already installed. Don't forget, you will have a fairly minimal set of fonts and DAs. I'm not sure why this happens, and I haven't bothered to check, since this cure generally works. I wonder, though, if the new installer doesn't always write the boot blocks correctly? Alexis Rosen A/UX victim apple!panix!alexis alexis@panix.uucp
