alexis@panix.UUCP (Alexis Rosen) (06/14/90)
I thought everything would be fine once we discovered the TZ problem. But no-o-o. Now panix is sending dozens of messages out. I found them in /usr/spool/uucp, sitting around because of a lack of pipes (but that's another story). Anyway, they all look like this: From alexis Thu Jun 14 05:10:21 1990 remote from panix Received: by panix (5.61/SMI-3.2) id AA20676; Thu, 14 Jun 90 05:10:21 EDT Date: Thu, 14 Jun 90 05:10:21 EDT From: panix!alexis (Alexis Rosen) Message-Id: <9006140910.AA20676@panix> To: cmcl2!notes uuxqt cmd (cunbatch) status (exit 2, signal 0) And, in /usr/spool/uucp/LOGFILE, the following roughly-corresponding entries: 1 cmcl2!uucp (6/14-5:10:15) (C,20666,0) NO (DEVICE) 1 cmcl2!uucp (6/14-5:10:16) (C,20666,0) FAILED (call to cmcl2 ) 1 cmcl2!uucp (6/14-5:10:23) (Q,20638,0) notes XQT (cunbatch ) 1 cmcl2!alexis (6/14-5:10:24) (X,20675,0) XQT QUE'D (rmail notes ) 1 cmcl2!uucp (6/14-5:10:25) (C,20670,0) NO (DEVICE) In the space of about 14 minutes, 84 such messages were created. Then, for no reason I can see, they stopped. Now, what does cunbatch have to do with me anyway? Actually, these mail messages bear a very strong resemblance to messages that were being generated by uuxqt when TZ wasn't set properly, only then the From header was from panix!MAILER-DAEMON (or was it panix!root?). There are no cron jobs which start at 5:10, and the number 84 has no particular significance that I can see (any numerologists out there? 1/2:-) ) I would be grateful for any help or suggestions that might lead to resolving this problem. I wonder if TZ isn't still a problem somewhere (because of the similarity of the failures) but I can't think where... Thanks in advance, Alexis A/UX victim (now you know why...) apple!panix!alexis
