It appears that the rub in whether or not to compile sendmail with
NAMED_BIND defined or not depends on, believe it or not, what you want
and need.
With NAMED_BIND defined, sendmail will use a query-type of MX instead
of the default of A. This is needed for some sites. However, you will
lose (as far as I can tell) any aliases in your /etc/hosts file. As
originally distributed, sendmail will not append the domain name to single
token address, this is assumed to be done by sendmail.cf.
If you compile without NAMED_BIND, then you gain the aliases in /etc/hosts,
but you lose the use of MX records, for those sites that need mail exchangers.
I will update Makefile so you can type "make named" or "make nonamed"
to compile your choice and I'll repost on ~ftp/pub.
