Ok. This is to Apple. I've been working on a port of Sendmail 5.64 for A/UX (1.1) and I've been having trouble with nameserver resolving. Now on page 6-13 of the "A/UX Network System Administration" book, it states that "In A/UX, host name or address queries from a user process are sent 1st to the nameserver. If the information is not found, the query is sent to the Yellow Pages. If the information is not found there, the query is sent to the local /etc/hosts file." But nslookup does NOT see aliases in /etc/hosts, but arp does. But more to the point, when sendmail is compiled to use MX records, it refuses to see the aliases in /etc/hosts. But the version of sendmail that came with 1.1 (5.59) DOES appear to both use MX records AND see aliases in /etc/hosts. HOW!!??!! I got from the above quote from the guide that BIND does this for you, but the output from nslookup and sendmail (the port) proves otherwise. ANY help along these lines would be mucho appreciatted! -- ======================================================================= #include <std/disclaimer.h> =:^) Jim Jagielski NASA/GSFC, Code 711.1 jim@jagmac2.gsfc.nasa.gov Greenbelt, MD 20771 "Kilimanjaro is a pretty tricky climb.
