Disinfectant 2.0 is a fine program and seems to work under A/UX 2.0 although I don't have any spare viruses to try it on at the moment (please don't send me any). The Disinfectant INIT, however, is not A/UX 2.0 compatible and bombs Mac sessions. The INIT can only be installed by root, other users get an "out of memory" error. Removing the INIT is difficult because its name begins with a "diamond" character which tends to get translated to "W". A suitable incantation is: cd /mac/sys/Sys* find . -name "*Disinfectant*" -exec rm -i {} \; I have mailed John Norstad about this problem. It would be very handy to have something like the Disinfectant INIT under A/UX since it seems likely that some viruses will "work" on the pseudo Mac in spite of Unix file protection etc., I'm sure John would be grateful for assistance from the A/UX team. -- David Edmondson ARPA: davide@cs.qmw.ac.uk Dept of Computer Science JANET:davide@uk.ac.qmw.cs Queen Mary & Westfield College UUCP: davide@qmw-cs.UUCP Mile End Road AppleLink: UK0087 LONDON, E1 4NS, UK Tel: 071-975 5250 (Fax: 081-980 6533) DoD#0777 Guzzi Le Mans 1000
