Back when I was running A/UX 1.1.1, I could get an application to send the printer output to a file instead of to a printer by pressing command-F. Now, when I try to do it under 2.0, It comes back & tells me that it can't open the printer (there isn't one). What am I doing wrong. Also, does anyone know how to make it possible to write a "printer" for the chooser that would send a file to the lp spooler instead of directly to some printer? Or send it to a file w/o having to do a command-F? Thanks steve scfisher@dtoa1.dt.navy.mil

Under A/UX 2.0 (and indeed under MacOS) you have to have chosen a printer before you are allowed to do any printing, including having a PostScript file captured on the disk! >Also, does anyone know how to make it possible to write a "printer" >for the chooser that would send a file to the lp spooler instead >of directly to some printer? I have hacked the CAP software to use the native AppleTalk support under A/UX 2.0 - this allows you to use lwsrv to do what you are asking. -- William Roberts ARPA: liam@cs.qmw.ac.uk Queen Mary & Westfield College UUCP: liam@qmw-cs.UUCP Mile End Road AppleLink: UK0087 LONDON, E1 4NS, UK Tel: 071-975 5250 (Fax: 081-980 6533)
