[comp.unix.aux] Building elm undex A/UX 2.0

huggins@ticipa.ti.com (Gray Huggins) (09/12/90)

We are attempting to build elm 2.3 pl6 under aux 2.0. Are there any "lessons
learned" someone could pass on to me?

Thanks,

I just built it, so...

There wasn't much to it --- I mostly just ran Configure and watched it
compile. The only interesting bit was adding a call to set42sig() in the
main() routine --- that prevents Elm from dying with "Alarm clock" after
running a while.

I used gcc and -D_SYSV_SOURCE -D_BSD_SOURCE.

The only problem I had was with pl0. When I compiled with pl5, it went
very smoothly. No problems or anything strange that I can remember.

So THAT'S what it was... This used to frustrate the hell out of me when
I was running Elm 2.2 back when I was using A/UX 1.1.1. Now I'm talking
to a NeXT over our network, running Elm 2.2p14. (I've been too lazy/busy
to update to 2.3 - one of these days I'll get around to it...)
