[comp.unix.aux] AUX 2.0 and MPW Compatibility

eberard@bse.com (Edward V. Berard) (09/14/90)

Folks,

I currently have version 3.1 of MPW, and I definitely need to keep using it.
I am told that, for all intents and purposes, MPW 3.1 cannot be run under
AUX 2.0. (I am also aware that there are some "work arounds.").

	- When will MPW be updated so that it will run under AUX 2.0? (I realize
that there are "beta" versions of MPW 3.2(?) floating around, but these
are primarily for (certified? blessed?) developers. What I am looking
for is a version which can be legally purchased by "mere mortals.")

	- Are there any "gotchas" with any version of MPW that will run under
	  AUX 2.0? For example,

			- Are there any compilers/languages/tools which currently
run just fine under MPW 3.1, but will not (or probably
will not) run under a version of MPW running under AUX 2.0?

			- Are there any hardware conflicts? I am running a Mac IIfx
with 8 megs of ram, and 160 megs of internal hard disk.

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Dear Ed -
MPW 3.2 will run under A/UX. It is currently going beta, and this beta
release, which will work under A/UX, will be part of the E.T.O. #2 release.
E.T.O - Essentials*Tools*Objects is a great way to stay up with the latest
and greatest from Apple if you are a "mere mortal" or "blessed developer".
To get information on ordering E.T.O., contact APDA at 1-800-282-APDA!
