Many of you have wanted to be able to print from Mac applications running on A/UX 2.0 to a PostScript device connected to another machine across your TCP/IP network using lpr. Until now the only way to do it was to use the undocumented <Command-F> option at the print dialog to dump a PostScript file that you could later send to the printer. This is not necessary anymore. INTRODUCING: AUXLaserWriter What AUXLaserWriter does is it takes the PostScript output that the driver itself produces, and it pipes it to a UNIX process that you define. You can pipe the output to lpr or lp or even to cat so that you can redirect it to a disk file. AUXLaserWriter is available via anonymous ftp from afsg.apple.com [192.1.34.2] on the Internet. look in ~ftp/pub for a file called aux.writer2.0.tar.Z AUXLaserWriter is NOT supported by Apple in any way, shape, or form. It is being provided on an "as is" basis as a service to the A/UX user community since it is deemed to be a very useful tool. Please pass it on to those you think can benefit from it. The archive consists of 4 files, the driver itself, two LaserPrep files, and a README which describes installation.
