I've just started noticing a curious problem between cu and my modem and I'd like to know what's going on: Most of the time cu works correctly with my modem (an ATI 2400etc/e) aside from cu's problem with forgetting to unlock the port, which I now do manually. On occasion, cu connects to the modem ok, but somehow sends the modem off-hook if I type an "at" followed by a carriage return. After a bit of fiddling and cursing, the system frequently settles down and works correctly, usually after the system prompts me that a lock has been placed on tty0. It looks as if cu is sending extra characters to the modem. Any ideas where they might be coming from? The modem is not particularly flaky, except for a tendency to ignore escape sequences when it's not in the mood. The modem works fine with White Knight 11.08 and MacLayers. bob prohaska
