[comp.unix.aux] findfile fills filesystem!

rprohask@orion.oac.uci.edu (Robert Prohaska) (12/31/90)

For some reason running the FindFile DA causes the amount of free
space in my root fileysystem (the only one mounted) to decrease,
apparently it'll go all the way to zero.

I was looking for the infamous "LCK..tty0" file, unfortunatly
under the wrong name. Naturally, FindFile didn't find it.

What did FindFile do, and how do I fix it?

The system caches the information from directory lookups in two special
files.

If you really want the disk space back, go to the console emulator, cd to
your System folder, and "rm .fs_* Desk*".
