Which printers are supported by AU/X? I presume that all of Apple's printers are supported (??? including the LaserWriter SC ???), as well as third-party PostScript printers. How about third party QuickDraw laserprinters? My interest in 3rd party QD laserprinters arises because I have a fast CPU (50 MHz 030), and I should be able to image faster on my CPU than on the 12 MHz 68000 in your typical PostScript laserprinter. But if 3rd party QD laserprinters are not supported, I guess I'm out of luck. Any comments? Thanx in advance, danm

I believe all of the MacOS applications should work.
The story is different for A/UX utilities.
The Apple LaserWriter SC is not supported. The ImageWriter LQ is
barely supported. There is no troff support for the LQ (but A/UX
2.0.1 fixes that.)
The nroff filter for the LQ is awful. I have written my own that
prints much faster. It still needs some work.... I might post it when
I am done.

"man man | lpr" took 6 1/2 minutes to print on my LQ in Near Letter Quality Mode. Running the nroff output through my filter reduced the print time to 3 minutes and 10 seconds. Send me mail if you want the filter. It's not really production quality, but it sure is handy! -- Bruce G. Barnett barnett@crd.ge.com uunet!crdgw1!barnett
