Can someone confirm whether Apple's new announced Ethernet NB card is register-level upwardly compatible (uses same A/UX drivers?) as the old Ethertalk NB card? Also, does anyone know if the new Thin Coax Transceiver from Apple can use plain old Thinnet cabling if need be, or must it use Apple's new self- terminating thinnet cabling? Thanks. From what I know of the two ethernet cards, they are not software compatible. They use two different ethernet controller chips and the chips are not software compatible. >Also, does anyone know if the new Thin Coax Transceiver from Apple can use >plain old Thinnet cabling if need be, or must it use Apple's new self- >terminating thinnet cabling? The Apple coax transceivers work just like normal transceivers, so they can be used with regular Thinnet cables. Mike ------------- Mike Lohmeyer mikel@berlioz.nsc.com

Ack!!! Does that mean that the Ethernet card for a Mac IIfx (by Dove) is not compatible with A/UX 2.0? I just ordered it, so I don't even know whether it works or not... Sven Dietrich Faculty Support Laboratory Adelphi University Garden City, NY
