[comp.unix.aux] Hard disk formatting/partitioning

A few days ago I finally got a new hard drive, a Data Cell (generic Quantum
170 MB) drive. The software that came with it didn't even allow pmultiple
partitions, and dp didn't recognize the partition map. I was able to use it
for either MacOS or A/UX, but not both, which is what I wanted (50% Mac,
50% A/UX). Since I don't have Silverlining, I figured I'd try something else:
the formatting/partitioning software that came with my Syquest drive succeeded
in getting the setup I wanted (patched it up a bit in dp).

The software is the PLI Formatter 3.0, am I taking any risks using a PLI
driver for a non-PLI drive?

(MacIIfx, 8MB RAM, A/UX 2.0, MacOS 6.0.5)
