[comp.unix.aux] Delivery of A/UX 2.0.1

gosciak@muondev.uucp (Doug Gosciak) (04/15/91)

A day or two after A/UX 2.0.1 was announced on AppleLink I called the
Computerland store where I had originally purchased my 2.0 version. I
asked them to place a copy of 2.0.1 on order for me for ASAP delivery.
3 weeks later I called them back to see what was going on with my order.
The salesman told me that Computerland warehouse would not receive it
from Apple before 4/22/91.

Since I had the oppurtunity to discuss 2.0.1 delivery with a salesman
from AMS/Connecting Point the weekend prior to my call to Computerland
about delivery and was assured that Connecting POint could get it for
me in about a week, I told Computerland to cancel the order and I would
shift my buying alleigance to AMS. The Computerland salesman said he
would cancel the order and told me to call them if they mught be able
to serve me in the future. Franky, I don't think that Computerland of
Grand Rapids want to be in the A/UX business.

Now for the clincher; 1 week after I placed the order for 2.0.1 I get a
call from AMS/Connecting Point. They now say that the Connecting Point
warehouse does not have the Incremental Update Kit in stock and that
Apple won't give them any firm date for delivery!

Since AMS is the only Grand Rapids dealer Apple says is officially
authorized to sell A/UX I left the order standing there since I
don't seem to have any other choice.

My question to the net is: has anyone gotten the Incremetal Update Kit
from their dealer? If so, how long from order date to delivery?

Is ther anyone from Apple reading this that could provide some insight
into what is going on?

=== Doug
