[comp.unix.aux] M.O. disks

Do Magneto-Optical disks work with A/UX 2.0 ?

Do they need a special driver ?

Yes.

Yes. You have to get one from the manufacturer of the Magento-Optical
drive.

They seem to... At least the disk in the Microtech OR650 can be
mounted as an A/UX file system, so it has to be workin?

The only problem I had was not having a MO disk which was sectored as
512 bytes per sector. But after I swapped the 1024 b/s disk for a 512 b/s
disk, it was all systems go. Even dp was able to partition the disk ;)

Will A/UX support disks sectored as 512 bytes per sector?

Well, if you'd like to mount the HFS volume, the you _might_ need an
INIT of some sort, and the INIT usually comes with the drive.

Sorry, I thought that the only recognized *physical* blocksize is 512
bytes with Apple Hard disk drivers, MacOS&A/UX, argh argh... Someone
correct me please if I'm wrong.

(A stupid typo on my part. Of course A/UX works with disks w. bs 512...)

Now for the real question: When will it be possible to use disks with
the physical blocksize of 1024 bytes (such as some MO-disks) with A/UX?
