Here is a summary of responses on ADA for z80s. In next month's Creative Computing there will be a review of two (unmentioned) ADA compilers - I'm assuming they mean Janus and Supersoft. Anyone else with info, please send to me. I'll post in a supplementary summary: aron shtull-trauring harpo!presby!aron ***************************** I have examined the manuals for both. There is a third implementation around but the company was honest enough to return my check until they had something to show. If I had to pick today, knowing how incomplete both available compilers are, I would probably pick Janus. The support seems much better. They responded to my letter with a 2 page letter on their plans and answered my letter point by point. The only point against them is that they consider the Z80 version to be as complete as it will get: they are considering bug fixes and minor enhancements only. The real work is happening on the 8086 version for the IBM PC. Hope this helps, good luck. /Ted -------- ***************************** Check out Telesoft and Western Digital. I don't know what their plans are, but they are the leading micro Ada producers. Also, look in the Implementation Matrix in the Ada Letters. Charles ***************************** Hi, I've got some friends here (Air Force Institute of Tech.) that have both SuperSoft and Janus. The general consensus is that the SuperSoft version stinks, and that Janus is very nice. I worked on an LR1 subset for a compiler class 3 quarters ago, and ANY company that claims to have implemented the whole package for a micro is either lying or has a micro with facilities that most of us haven't heard of yet.
