This message concerns about the subscription to the Hong Kong news digest.

Okay, there is currently a group of Hong Kong students from around the
world (mostly from North America) participate in an informal
discussion through mailing list (HKnet). The discussion are on Hong
Kong in particulars and are open to any Chinese/Cantonese students/staff.
There are currently about 200 people in the mailing list and if
anyone would like to subscribe to the HKnet, just send a message to
Wilson Ho in UC Davis with the following information exactly as shown:

Each field must begin at the first (1st) column. Field names must be in
lower cases and must be typed exactly as shown (no abbreviation
please). There is *NO* space before the colon (:). Anything entered
after the colon (:) will be recorded as is. Each field will be on a
separate line. All fields except the mailing address should be kept
on one single line. Also, please enter your last name first, followed by a
comma (,) and your first name.

Please forward this message to any Hong Kong/Cantonese speaking
students you know. We'd like to see as many people joining as possible.
For those who read this message for the first time, our goal is to set
up a communication network for students originated from Hong Kong. If
we get enough support, we will try to start a new newsgroup.
Something like soc.culture.hong.kong or soc.hong.kong.

Because of the growing in size of the mailing list I recently posted a
request to news.groups calling for a discussion for the creation of a
new moderated news group "soc.culture.hongkong". If anyone would like
to comment on the creation of such a group please post to news.groups.
