Last nite, my brand new TRS-80 Color Computer arrived (mail order). It "played right out of the box". Stayed up late reading the beginning BASIC manual, after playing with the extended BASIC graphics commands for a few hours (LOTsa fun). I was prepared to be grossed out by BASIC (due to education & experience in Computer Science) but was very pleased with how well-equipped the language has become. Strings, IF-THEN-ELSE, case stmts, etc. Looking forward to more late evenings. Only complaint: Running thru a TV set makes it hard to get good colors and proper edges and resolution, so when the 90 days are up I plan to tap in between the chroma modulator chip and the RF modulator, add an emitter follower (downstream of the one already present) and feed baseband NTSC into my [similarly hacked] TV. My thanks to everyone for the COCO advice, etc. For the money it beats the competition by a factor of 1.5--.0, at least if you mail-order it from a certain gas station in Michigan.
