                 CALL FOR PAPERS

                 Special Issue on

          PARALLEL ALGORITHMS FOR GEOMETRIC
           PROBLEMS ON DIGITIZED PICTURES

ALGORITHMICA, an International Journal in Computer
Science, published by Springer Verlag, is planning a
special issue entitled "Parallel Algorithms for Geometric
Problems on Digitized Pictures".
Algorithmica is a journal dedicated to bringing together
the theoretical results and the practical applications
necessary for designing efficient algorithms. It covers
algorithms in applied areas such as * VLSI * distributed
computing * parallel processing * automated design * robotics
* graphics * database design * software tools. And it covers
fundamental applicationas like * sorting * searching * data
structures * computational geometry * linear programming.

For this special issue, papers are invited which are
concerned with the design and analysis of efficient parallel
algorithms for solving geometric problems (e.g., problems in
computational geometry, graphics, or robotics). Those problems
are of particular interest that arise when geometric data are
given in the form of digitized pictures.

Authors are invited to submit manuscripts in triplicate
to the Guest Editor

Submissions must be received by November 21, 1988, and
should include a mailing address (stand. mail), telephone
number, and electronic mail address for all further
correspondence. A letter of intent, together with a tentative
title, received before the end of August would be appreciated.
