**** BBOOT Release Announcement **** This posting is to announce the first release of bboot, a program that automatically boots bfly1's and bfly+'s. The program also keeps track of boot performance as well as who has booted what machine and when. The program allows any user who has execute permission on bboot to boot a butterfly machine at the site. It gives system administrators valuable information that they may use to make system level changes. The program will eventually be distributed from one of BBN's machines but for now, any one who wishes a copy of the program may ftp it from grinch.umiacs.umd.edu. Here's how: ftp grinch.umiacs.umd.edu or ftp 128.8.121.1 answer the NAME prompt with `anonymous' answer the PASSWORD prompt with `your login name' then type, cd pub/bboot binary get bboot.8.20.88.tar This will place a copy of `bboot.8.20.88.tar' in the current working directory. To unpack bboot place bboot.8.20.88.tar in the directory where you wish the sources to go and then type, tar xvf bboot.8.20.88.tar .
