[ This is a correction to an earlier posting --- Steve ] Bfly users and non-users can now get vital usage statistics of a butterly machine without having to log in to the bfly machine. By running a bstat deamon on the king node of every bfly you wish to have this service, a user can issue the command bstat at a Unix prompt on any Unix machine that is on the same network as the bfly and get vital statistics about the bfly machine. The bstatd makes use of the BBN bfly syscheck command and the output of this command is what is produced when a bstat command is issued from a Unix prompt. The bstat command has the same command line options with the same meanings as the syscheck command. You can get bstatd by ftp-ing to grinch.umiacs.umd.edu.arpa or umiacs.umd.edu.arpa (net address -- 128.8.120.1). When ftp asks for Name reply with: anonymous When it asks for a Password reply with: <your_user_id> The file you want is in the pub directory and is called bstatd.shar. To unpack simply: [1] Copy it to a place where you wish the sources to go, [2] Type at the Unix prompt: sh bstatd.shar, [3] Await for it to finish and then read the README file. All should go well. If you have any problems or wish to comment on the program please send mail to: curtiss@mimsy.umd.edu.arpa Enjoy and tah.
