The SIGPLAN/SIGOPS Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Debugging took place in May in Madison, Wisconsin. There were 23 papers presented and two panel sessions. A copy of the proceedings (papers and abstracts) was distributed to each attendee. I've received many queries about the availability of the Debugging Workshop proceedings, so I thought I would post the latest news. SIGPLAN Notices will be publishing the proceedings in the January issue. All SIGPLAN member should receive a copy. The published proceedings will contain the 23 papers and session summaries of each paper and panel session. The session summaries will also appear in the upcoming issue of Operating Systems Review (the SIGOPS publication). The first Workshop produced a lot of good discussion and interaction, and the consensus was that there should be a follow-up meeting. Plans are to have the 2nd Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Debugging in May 1990 (two years between meetings seems like the right amount of time). Any ideas that you might have for the 2nd meeting are welcome. --bart miller uw-madison cs dept bart@cs.wisc.edu ...!uwvax!bart
