AIMS AND SCOPE OF THE CONFERENCE

The aim with the conference is to give an overview of the state-
of-the-art of the development, application and future trends in
parallel computing.

The emphasis of the conference will be on applications of
parallel computing. The following sections will be included:

1. Algorithms for all types of parallel computers
2. All aspects of the applications of parallel computers
3. Software Engineering for parallel computing
4. Programming and programming languages
5. Operating systems
6. Taxonomy, models and architectural trends of parallel
   processing
7. General architecture concepts; enabling technologies
8. Performance measurement.

Invited speakers will give talks on subjects in the above
sections.

The organisers invite contributed papers (lecture time 20 minutes
plus 5 minutes discussion time) on the topics of the conference.
An extended abstract of fewer than 600 words should be mailed not
later than 15th February 1989 to:

The abstract should give a clear impression of the scientific
contents of the paper. Not more than 5 keywords should be
specified. The number of the section in which the paper should
preferably be included should be indicated. Papers on topics not
mentioned in the above list should include a suggested topic
area. Also indicate which audiovisual equipment will be required.

Authors will be notified of acceptance by 15th April 1989; the
program will be prepared in May 1989. Proceedings of accepted
contributed and invited papers will be published after the
conference.


PARALLEL COMPUTING SOCIETY

The Parallel Computing 89 conference is a continuation of the
Parallel Computing 83 an 85 conferences which were held in
Berlin. It is the first such venture by the newly established
international

                   PARALLEL COMPUTING SOCIETY.                

Interested individuals, organisations and companies are invited
to join the society. Membership of the society will result in a
substantial reduction of registration fees.


GENERAL INFORMATION

Location

The conference will be held at the University of Leiden, the
oldest university in the Netherlands. Leiden is connected by
direct rail link with Amsterdam international airport (Schiphol).
Travel time is approximately 20 minutes.
