Hi, Everybody. I am examining the primitives used to implement parallelism/concurrency/etc. in distributed computers. As I recall, about a month ago there were a spate of postings about concurrency control packages - the only one whose name I recall is Linda (I hope the rest of you will forgive me! :-). I would appreciate it if somebody would email me the names of some of these packages, as well as from whom the packages are available. I hope I am not mis-representing these products by referring to them as concurrency control packages - they seem to be either languages or language add-ons which which allow the user to either directly or indirectly take advantage of the underlying parallelism of a distributed architecture. My interest is both in the interface these packages provide the user _and_ the interface between these packages and the underlying architecture. Any pointers would be appreciated. Oh, and some of you software jocks out there could email me what primitives you would like to see available to you for distributed programming - I'll even send you a thank you note! :-) Greg Frazier PS I'll summarize and post if there's interest &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@++++++++++ Greg Frazier o Internet: frazier@CS.UCLA.EDU CS dept., UCLA /\ UUCP: ...!{ucbvax,rutgers}!ucla-cs!frazier ----^/---- /
