We are working on a project for NASA related to automated structures assembly. A lab at Langley has asked us to evaluate their architecture (software and hardware) and make detailed recommendations relative to their system architecture in a distributed multi-processing context, a real-time environment that will support what they're trying to do, an HOL such as Ada or C++, and a hardware environment that can provide them with the horsepower that they need. We need information about commercial real-time environments. We have information from Wind River Systems on VxWorks (as well as critical comments people on the net have made), and information on OS-9 (crtical comments would be welcome...and I understand that there are many). We're looking for information and contacts for VRTX, pSOS, and tSOS. If anyone can offer specific or general help in regard to any of the above, particularly in regard to getting brochures and/or manuals (but also anecdotal experiences), we would greatly appreciate your correspondence. If anyone has any other suggestions for real-time environments that we should consider, they would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
