[comp.parallel] Fault Tolerance in XENIX386 machines

rosso@intiar.edu.ar (Osvaldo_Rosso) (09/25/89)

I'm looking for information related with fault tolerance in
XENIX386 based computers, any system that improve the system
reliability and data integrity in this machines. I need
information about devices and/or software to create any of this
schemes:

- Disk Mirroring: two identical hard disks in one controler that
writes the same information in the original disks and,
simultaneously, writes in the duplicate. If the original disk
fails the duplicated must take over automaticaly an
transparently to the users of the system, with no loss of data.

- Disk duplexing: The same principle but with two identical hard
disks in two identical controlers. This improves the reliavility
against a failure of the controller.

- Duplication of the computer, in this case the entire machine
is duplicated, both computers are linked through a high velocity
link (a network). If the original machine fails the other takes
over inmediatly an transparently and do the work.

Please send me any info related with this products (special
controllers, commercial or free software...), send it by
e_ mail.
