[net.micro] 68000s and small buss architectures

We're about to start a project to make a small, flexible mobile robot,
and are planning to put some microcomputer in it to act as a data
concentrator. Our current favourite is the 68000. I was wondering if
anyone has experience with single-card or multi-card 68000 systems,
and any suggestions as to what languages to program them with (we are
planning on c, but could easily change to Forth if it's a good idea).

Also, as it should be flexible, we want to have a common buss which
can accept boards for whatever interfaces we want to put on it. Can we
buy 68000 UNIBUS or qBUS cards? How reliable are MULTIBUS or VERSABUS
cards? I am guessing that the S-100 buss is just too flakey, and that
cards for it are not generally sturdy enough.

If anyone has answers to these questions or any related info, we would
be grateful for any pointers.
