My apologies for a "for sale" posting to comp.parallel, but parallel machines being available at bargain prices should be of high interest to the readers of this group. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx My group at LLNL has what is now a 10 processor Balance 8000 which is no longer useful for numerical crunching due to the strides made in micro floating point performance, but which is of good use to a group needing a shared memory multiprocessor for software development. The machine has 16MB of memory, the 1/4" tape and two eagle disk drives. There is one more processor board as well which probably has blown bus interface logic, but for which the cost of a board swap at Sequent is not justified. One might repair it for a the cost of a few MSI interface parts, however. The 10 processor machine runs flawlessly. If there are any groups out there who would like to acquire a 10 processor machine, but find the pricing of new machines prohibitive, please contact me to see what might be arranged. Eugene D.
