The first international Workshop on Parallel Compilation took place in Kingston, Canada, May 6-8th, 1990. Although there has been considerable work in this area over the last several years, this is the first time that the active researchers have met to synthesize their results. Representatives from most of the groups working on this problem around the world attended. There were participants from Australia, Canada, West Germany, the Netherlands, and the USA. The proceedings of the workshop are available to anyone who is interested (see order information below). Here is a list of talks and papers presented: On the Complexity of Parallel Compilation, Neal M. Gafter, (University of Rochester); Parallel Lexical Analysis, I.D. McDonald, A.L. Wendelborn, (University of Adelaide) Parallel Parsing via the Backward Trace of Systolic Computations, Laurent Langlois, (Universit\'{e} de Montr\'{e}al) PILA: Lexical and Syntactical Analysis on a Pipelined Processor, Klaus-Dieter Lewke, (University of Paderborn) Parallel Data Flow Analysis Algorithms, Yong-fong Lee, Thomas J. Marlowe, Barbara G. Ryder, (Rutgers University) Parallelizing Data Flow Analysis, Rajiv Gupta, (Philips Laboratories); Lori Pollock, (Rice University); Mary Lou Soffa, (University of Pittsburgh) Parallelized Compiler Optimization, Angelika Zobel, (Carnegie Mellon University) Attribute Evaluation in Parallel, Edward F. Klein, (Universit\"{a}t Karlsruhe) Some Fast PRAM Algorithms for Matching Parentheses, Narsingh Deo, Sushil Prasad, (University of Central Florida) Dilip Sarkar, (University of Miami) Parallel Parsing of Regular Right-part Grammars, Paul Oude Luttighuis, (University of Twente) A Data Partitioning Technique for Parallel Compilation, Sanjay Khanna, Arif Ghafoor, (Syracuse University) A Concurrent Modula-2+ Compiler, David Wortman, (University of Toronto) Parsing on O(n) Processors, David B. Skillicorn, David T. Barnard, (Queen's University) The Proceedings of the workshop are available as Technical Report 90-280, Department of Computing and Information Science, Queen's University.
