From: Bruce J Nemnich <Nemnich@Mit-Multics> I haven't seen any discussion on the MPX-16, the single-board 8088/8087 system featured in the November BYTE. Although I am not thrilled with the 8088 architecture, it seems to make the most of it. IBM-PC plug-in compatability makes it even more attractive (9 expansion slots, and 5 ports are builtin, so they don't take up slots). Disk controller builtin, too. 256K RAM and 64K EPROM onboard. It could be a really powerful system for the money, especially if assembeled at home. Anyone have any thoughts/comments/experience? --bjn

In the second byte article Steve suggest installing the IBM color display interface in one of the expansion slots to achieve just this. Seems like an awfully cheap way to take advantage of all the software for the IBM PC.
