ONE YEAR POST-DOC POSITION IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE
The Department of Computer Science has a vacancy for a highly motivated
person wishing to pursue research in the exciting and rapidly developing
field of Parallel Computation, within a three-to-four member team
working on a one year project. The position might be renewed at the end
for one or two years or transformed into a permanent one.
The successful candidate will work on the development of tools to
support innovative programming methods for distributed parallel
machines. Previous research experience in some area of computing is a
prerequisite for this position. Some familiarity with and interest in some
of the following topics is required: parallel programming models,
automatic parallelization, advanced compilation, multiprocessor
architecture, scheduling, operating system, interconnection networks.
Development will be performed in C and/or CommonLisp on SUN SPARC
workstations linked to the Ecole des Mines network and to the outside
world via the INTERNET, FNET and BITNET.
The work location is Fontainebleau, 40 miles south of Paris. English can
be used as work language and a large english speaking community lives there
making the French language almost useless. However a tiny bit of French
might prove very useful. It is also possible to rent a place in
Southern Paris (14th district) and to commute using a free Ecole des
Mines shuttle.
The present salary range applicable to this post is from 180000 FF per
year (about $33000, depending on exchange rate) and up depending on
experience and qualifications. Most of the medical insurance is paid by the
employer. Vacations: 28 work days and numerous long weekends.
