From: Mike Meyer <mwm@Okc-Unix> My hayes smart?modem just died due to a power surge. As a consequence, I am looking for something to replace it, and would appreciate pointers to other modems. Requirments: Direct connect and autodial (touch tone) are musts. Autoanswer would be nice, but I can live w/out it. Since I can replace the hayes for $180, any other modem I consider must either have obvious advantages over the hayes, be software compatable, or cost < $150. In the line of obvious advantages: A 1200 baud modem with the required features for < $400, or an S100 modem board for < $300. (Hmm, I may even be able to get the PMMI board for that....) Summary posted to the net on request. Thanx, <mike
