[comp.parallel] Literature references to Cellular automata

berg@cip-s04.informatik.rwth-aachen.de (AKA Solitair) (11/12/90)

I got several overlapping literature references, I took out the double
ones and have summarized below (edited quotes):

There is a book on lattice gas dynamics published in 1989 (I think)
by the Santa Fe Institute which may talk to this problem.
The book was written by Dr. Steve Orszag.

You might also want to check out the program Cellsim
which can be anonymously ftp'ed from turing.cs.rpi.edu (128.213.1.1).

An excellent book is called Cellular Automata Machines by Tommaso
Toffoli & Norman Margolus. It describes using CAMs to do soil erosion
simulations, gas simulations, etc.

"Cellular Automata Modeling of Complex Physical Systems" (P. Manneville
et al, Springer-Verlag 1989) and "Complex Systems and Cognitive Processes"
(Serra & Zanarini, Springer-Verlag 1990). Topics of interest include
Ising spin systems, percolation, hydrodynamics, diffusion, lattice gases
etc.

it runs in only 5 min. Actually, most of the time I optimize programs."
