[comp.parallel] Faculty positions of Computer Science

	 The University of Texas at San Antonio  

The Division of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Statistics will have  
two  
tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level, and one 
at the senior level in 
computer science beginning August, 1991. 
Although 
applicants in all areas of computer 
science will be considered, preference will be given to those candidates 
whose research 
areas are in parallel and distributed computation, data bases, programming 
languages and computer systems and architectures.  
Applicants for the assistant professor positions should have the 
Ph.D. degree in computer 
science or a related area by August 1991, and should demonstrate strong 
potential for excellence in research and teaching. 
Applicants for the senior position 
should have a strong research record including publications and research 
funding. Responsibilities include research, teaching, direction of 
graduate students, and contributing in program development. 

The University has a VAX 8650 and an IBM 4381 dedicated to academic 
computing and connected to an ethernet local area network. The division's 
computing equipment for computer science research includes a BBN Butterfly 
GP1000 with 16 processors, a Sun network with 33 SPARCstations, and an  
AI lab consisting of a Symbolics, two TI exploreres and two LMI 
machines. 
All the machines have internet and bitnet access. 
In addition to the other numerous workstations within the Science 
and Engineering College, there is access to an Encore Multimax with 20 
processors as well as a Cray X-MP/24 (COS), a Cray IS (UNICOS) and 
a Cray Y-MP.
