D.J.Pritchard@ecs.soton.ac.uk (David Pritchard) (12/10/90)
The Concurrent Computation Group at the University of Southampton, UK has a vacancy for a Programmer to form part of our infrastructure supporting a large number of (or number of large) projects across the spectrum of Parallel/Concurrent Processing. The Group consists of 6 Academic staff, 18 Research staff and a variable number of Students (usually studying for PhD). Our work is has been primarily transputer based, but we are branching out into the world of the i860 and other processors. Our funding comes from a variety of sources: the EEC (via the ESPRIT programm, and others), the DTI (various special initiatives) and the SERC. We have been partners in SUPERNODE, PUMA, GENESIS, GP-MIMD and had one of the Regional Transputer Centres (now included within Transputer Technology Solutions, an independent consultancy). The position is funded as part of an SERC contract "Foundation Support for Novel Architecture Computing", and will be at an appropriate level (depending on age and experience) of the standard RA scale. Bitter experience with similar positions suggests that non-EEC applicants will need work permits. Applicants should possess a degree in some relevant discipline, and will probably be able to register for a higher degree (MPhil/PhD). Applicants should send a CV/resume to me at the address below, informal contact for further details can be done by email. The vacancy exists now, and we would like to fill it as soon as possible. -- Dr David J. Pritchard (the Dr is to distinguish from a student of the same name!)
