We are a group at the University of Erlangen in Germany which is working on measurement, modeling and evaluation of parallel and distributed computer systems. We designed and implemented a tool environment called SIMPLE for the analysis, modeling and animation of event traces for performance measurement and evaluation. The main advantage of SIMPLE is that it is independent of the structure, format and physical representation of the event trace data to analyze. The routines that decode and access the event trace data can be configured with the help of a data description language. So we can analyze event traces recorded by arbitrary monitor systems or even event traces generated by simulation tools. There a many evaluation tool environments for this purpose all over the world. We know many, but probably not all. But we think that our environment is the only one which is independent of the properties of the input data. And now our question: If you have any information of a similar approach, could you please be so kind to send us a short email ? Thank you Bernd Mohr mohr@immd7.informatik.uni-erlangen.de
