[comp.parallel] OOPS

johnson@cs.uiuc.edu (Ralph Johnson) (12/20/90)

There has actually been lots of work on parallel or distributed
programming and object-oriented programming. Eden and Emerald at
the U. of Washington combined distributed and OOP, as did Clouds
at Georgia Tech and (to a lesser extent) Argus at MIT. There was
a workshop at OOPSLA'88 on parallel object-based systems that came
out in SIGPLAN Notices in early 1989, the there was another workshop
at OOPSLA'90, but the workshop results haven't been printed yet.
Aki Yonezawa at the University of Tokyo has built a system called
ABCPL (or something like that) and has a book on it. Gul Agha had
a paper in the September issue of CACM on the subject.
