[comp.parallel] Ease Information

zenith@ensmp.fr (Steven Ericsson-Zenith) (01/10/91)

C'mon, Zenith; please post info on where to get (presumably prelim.)
info on _Ease_ !! Many of us are intrigued by your 3 1/2-part
criticism of Linda (esp. C-Linda). If on the Internet, please give
specific retrieval instructions, since I for one only have ftp access
   through mail gateways. Thanx,

My apologies, with the number of reports I've (Yale) has sent out (about
200 hard copy and well over 100 notified ftps) I figured everyone and
their budgie had a copy by now :-) I've had a number of particular
requests and in the next few days I promise I'll post a brief outline of
the Ease model <<Steve, I promise it will be brief. I've taken far more
than my fair share of this groups bandwidth recently!>>. This will save
you trying to work it out from the report.

It's probably worth mentioning that I'll be giving a talk at a seminar
in the Ecole des Mines de Paris, in Paris (Blvd St. Michel), on the 17th
of this month at around 14:00 and on the 14th at INRIA in Valbonne
Sophia Antipolis (Near Nice in the South of France). In both cases the
talk is entitled:

"Process Interaction Models: An overview and rationale for Ease"

For further information you can send email to the respective hosts:

                                    <irigoin@ensmp.fr>
14th Feb, INRIA , Valbonne Sophia Antipolis : Philippe Mussi
                             <Philippe.Mussi@mirsa.inria.fr>

The report "Programming with Ease: a semiotic definition of the
language" was published in July 1990 at Yale as Research Report RR809.
I've just checked and you can still anonymous ftp a copy of the report
from bulldog.cs.yale.edu. The report is in ~/pub/ease.tex.Z. It is a
compressed LaTeX file.

Please send me email to say that you have taken a copy. If you have any
trouble let me know, I can probably drop a copy at an ftp site near you.
If you really must have a hard copy send email to me here. Land mail
outside Europe takes time! If you can't get access to bulldog, send me
email and I'll see what I can do.

Though, to reduce bandwidth, I suggest you wait for the Ease overview
that I'll post in the next few days. If you are still interested and
want more details you can get the report then.

I am currently compiling an Ease mailing list which should become active
shortly. If you want to be included on this list send me your full
address (including land mail address).

Everyone who has written to me regarding Ease over the past two/three
months - during the relocation of myself and project to France - will be
hearing from me shortly. If you have sent me mail for any reason, and
had no reply by the end of this month - please accept my apologies and
try again.

Oh, and yes, I am still compiling a list of parallel applications (all
models) available publically. I've been a bit distracted lately :-) -
I'll get back to the list soon. After all, I have some tests to run :-)

Thank you for your interest.
Warmest regards,
Steven
