From: Edward C Pattermann <PATTERMANN@Sumex-Aim>
Does anyone know anything about the new SONY PROFEEL monitors? Are they
RBG input? do they accept composite video input? Can anyone recommend a
good color composite video monitor? AMDEK? NEC? SANYO? BMC?

Thanks for any replies,
Ed

The Sony Profeel monitors are high end consumer products.
they have both composite video and RGB in (but to get the RGB in, you have
to muck with a multi-pin connector on the underside, which also has
a digital control input so that the computer they presume you are
using for an RGB source can switch modes itself). Sony has a 12"
"fine-pitch" Profeel, which is intended to be a mate to their recently
announced personal computer (look for big noise at CES in January).
("Fine-pitch" means that they use a tube with [in this case] 4 times
as many phosphor stripes, with the intent of higher resolution.)
Other firms offering component TV are Zenith, Panasonic, and
Jensen(yes, the car stereo people).
Depending on the kind of material you are trying to display,
it could be that no consumer monitor will have high enough resolution-
see Barco, Conrac, Hitachi, NEC.

We have two Panasonic CT-1350 13 inch monitors which accept either
composite video or RGB... we're pleased with them.
