[net.micro] apple lisa and macintosh questions

David.Neves@Cmu-Cs-A@sri-unix (12/06/82)

the latest infoworld refered to some information it had published in
a previous issue on the apple lisa and macintosh (not yet announced)
computers. did anyone read that? i have seen no information about
the macintosh other than it is a cheaper version of the lisa and is
68000 based. it is rumored that apple will announce the super ii
and the lisa system at its annual meeting in january.

Here's what I know from a NYTimes article. Lisa is coming out in a few months,
with the cost in the $7-10K range. They talk of the 'new' concept of overlaid
virtual sheets of paper that it uses. They also say that VisiCorp is making
software for other (unknown) machines that is based on the same concept. And,
yes, MacIntosh is a cheaper version of Lisa directed at the home computer user.
There is also a 'Cortland' in the $2K range, and a 'Golden Delicious' for
~$300 [ :-) ].
