Silicon Graphics, Inc.  (SGI) is a leading manufacturer of a UNIX based binary
compatible family of computer systems used by engineers, scientists and design
professionals in the areas of Architectural and Engineering Construction,
Graphics Animation and Production, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Electronic
Design Automation, Mathematics and Statistics, Scientific Visualization, Earth
Resource Sciences, Graphics Arts and Publishing, Image Processing,
Computational Chemistry and Crystallography, Computer Aided Molecular Modeling,
Mechanical Computer Aided Design, Engineering and Manufacturing.

SGI's product line is based on Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) MIPS
R3000 and R3010 processors and ranges from PC-compatible graphics boards and
graphics workstations to high performance parallel compute servers.  An
independent marketing research newsletter published by Dataquest in January
1990 concluded that SGI was the 4th largest supercomputer vendor in the world
and the fastest growing one in 1989.

As a direct result of its continued growth in the supercomputing market, SGI
is looking for a young, bright, motivated individual to expand its Eastern
Technology Center located in Hudson, Massachusetts.  This position represents
an exciting opportunity to develop knowledge and expertise in the areas of
parallel and vector processing, computer architecture, operating
systems and scientific and engineering applications.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    - Tune and benchmark computationally intense applications on 
      multiprocessor systems during competitive sales situation.

    - Administer Eastern Technology Center computing resources


REQUIREMENTS

    - Bachelor's Degree or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer 
      Engineering, Math or equivalent

    - GPA >= 3.5

    - UNIX, FORTRAN, C 

    - Superior communication, analytical and organizational skills

    
DESIRABLE SKILLS

    - Parallel and Vector Processing

    - Multiprocessor Systems Architecture

    - Numerical Analysis and Algorithms

    - Scientific and Engineering Applications

    - One or two years of industry experience
