            SECOND OSU WORKSHOP ON PARALLEL COMPUTING
       The Department of Computer and Information Science
                   THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY
                         Columbus, OH
                       March 28-29, 1991


The Department of Computer and Information Science at The Ohio State
University will host its Second Workshop on Parallel Computing,
featuring invited talks by leading researchers in the field.
Presentations and panel discussion will focus on the topic of "Tools,
Techniques and Environments for the Development of Parallel Programs."
The workshop will serve as a forum for the informal presentation and
discussion of recent work by researchers from within and outside The
Ohio State University.


The keynote speakers at the workshop will be:

  Mani Chandy, California Institute of Technology
  Larry Snyder, University of Washington

 
Research presentations will be made by researchers at The Ohio State
University, as well as by the following invited speakers:
 
  Bill Appelbe, Georgia Institute of Technology
  Hank Dietz, Purdue University
  Tom LeBlanc, University of Rochester
  Rishiyur Nikhil, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  David Padua, University of Illinois
  Keshav Pingali, Cornell University
  Joel Saltz, ICASE, NASA Langley Research Center

In addition to the oral presentations, a poster session will be
organized to facilitate the interchange of ideas on research in
progress.

Prior to the workshop, on March 27, 1991, a short course (including
laboratory) "Introduction to Parallel Computing" will be conducted by
the faculty of The Ohio State University. The fee for the short course
is $100, with total attendance limited to around 30 participants.


The registration fee for the workshop is $100 and will cover the cost
of lunches, dinner and a copy of the proceedings (to be published
after the workshop). Total attendance will be limited to around 100
